Project Description
Eight-acre new animal exhibit replacing one of the older areas of the San Diego Zoo.
The existing canyon and topography will be completely reshaped for larger exhibit spaces as well as ADA compliance. Extensive grading, soil retention, shotcrete theming and immersive visitor experiences are paramount for this project.
A 100,000sf tensile structure will enclose a large aviary and a 60-foot walk-through waterfall. The project also includes a 150,000-gallon saltwater penguin and shark exhibit that includes multiple above, at and below water level viewing areas.
