CM Builder & New Tool Rollout

June 16, 2026

Rudolph and Sletten’s Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Department is helping field teams and plan jobsites more efficiently through the rollout of a new visual logistics tool, CM Builder. Developed to improve how site logistics are planned and communicated, CM Builder is changing how superintendents and project teams access information and make decisions in the field.

Site logistics planning has traditionally been challenged by fragmented information and manual workflows. In a typical process, teams must identify required equipment such as cranes, hoists, fencing, and trailers, track down vendor cut sheets, interpret technical data, and manually recreate layouts in 2D plans. This approach is time-consuming and introduces opportunities for error, often resulting in simplified or outdated representations that do not fully reflect real field constraints.

CM Builder addresses this gap by bringing all relevant logistics information into a single environment. It improves not only the clarity of visuals, but also access to accurate data and the speed of decision-making.

A More Connected Workflow

At the core of CM Builder is a growing library of parametric construction equipment. Users can select, place, and adjust elements such as cranes, hoists, fencing, laydown areas, and temporary site infrastructure directly within the model. Each element includes embedded vendor cut sheets and technical data, allowing users to immediately evaluate reach, capacity, footprint, and clearance requirements as part of the planning process.

This gives field teams a more direct and efficient way to plan site logistics. Information is no longer scattered across emails, PDFs, and reference folders. Equipment is visualized accurately rather than approximated. Decisions can be made and validated in context without switching between tools. Planning becomes faster, clearer, and more reliable.

VDC’s Role in Project Delivery

The rollout of CM Builder reflects the broader role of Rudolph and Sletten’s VDC Department in project delivery. The team supports the implementation of 3D, 4D, and 5D workflows across a wide range of project needs, including cut-and-fill takeoffs, pursuit visuals, trade coordination, constructability support, logistics planning, and facility management data deliverables.

This reflects how VDC supports much more than just model coordination. It is a project delivery resource that supports planning, communication, decision-making, and execution at multiple stages of a project.

By integrating tools like CM Builder into field workflows, VDC continues to strengthen how teams deliver projects on the jobsite.
