CEA Honors Our Culture of Safety

January 20, 2020

On January 14, 2020, R&S proudly received the coveted 2019 President’s Safety Award from the Construction Employers’ Association (CEA) in Northern California. This is our sixth consecutive year receiving this award.

“Our hard-working employees are the reason we keep receiving this recognition,” says Brian Miller, Safety Director. “All our people work with safety at the forefront of their minds and activities. This includes everyone from our administrative employees to our employees working in the field putting hammer to nail.”

Vasheta Attaway, Safety Department Administrative Assistant, accepted the President’s Safety Award on R&S’s behalf during the CEA Annual General Membership Dinner Meeting, held January 14, 2020. Also attending the event and cheering R&S were: Jon Foad, President; Terry Barnacal, Project Executive; Laszlo Vincze, Sr. Superintendent; Bill Drury, Sr. Project Executive; Gary Taylor, Sr. Project  Executive; Bryan Fink, Safety Manager; and Brian Miller, Safety Director.

President’s Safety Award winners are recognized for having achieved both a total injury and incident rate and a lost workday rate at least 50 percent below the industry average, an experience modification rate of .70 or less and having been a participant in Cal/OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program or otherwise demonstrated a comprehensive safety training program.

In February, CEA will recognize R&S with its Excellence in Safety Award — our 19th consecutive year receiving this honor. Excellence in Safety Award winners have achieved both a total incident rate and a lost workday incident rate 25 percent below the industry average, an experience modification rate below 1.0, a flat or negative experience modification trend over the past four years and demonstration of an active safety training program.

Thank you to all our employees for your continued commitment to safety!
