| | Our construction of the world famous Monterey Bay Aquarium and its Outer Bay Wing is an extraordinary example of Rudolph and Sletten’s innovative approach to building. Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, the site presented an unusual – and unique – challenge. Working closely with the California Coastal Commission and ocean ecologists, we came up with a plan that minimized impact to the fragile environment, shored up an existing, historic sea wall, poured a new sea wall, then excavated behind the new wall to lay the foundations of this landmark building. Unique projects like the Monterey Bay Aquarium demand the one-of-a-kind “can do” capabilities of Rudolph and Sletten.
