RUDOLPH AND SLETTEN NAMES NEW VICE PRESIDENT
FOR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

FOSTER CITY, CA  (October 8, 2003)—Rudolph and Sletten General Contractors today announced the promotion of Chief Estimator Joseph Hook to Vice President, Chief Estimator for Southern California.  Mr. Hook brings over 27 years of construction and estimating expertise to the position and has been a significant part of the success of the estimating department and preconstruction services in the company’s Irvine and San Diego offices.

Rudolph and Sletten is one of the leading general contractors on the West Coast and has provided quality-oriented general contracting and construction management services for over four decades.  With its corporate headquarters in Foster City, the company also has
regional offices in San Diego, Irvine, and Roseville, California.

“Joseph Hook has contributed greatly to the success of our Southern California offices over the past 10 years,” said Allen Rudolph, President and CEO of Rudolph and Sletten. “Joe has been a key figure in providing outstanding preconstruction services, one of the main services we provide our clients that sets us apart from our competition.”

In his new capacity, Hook will be responsible for preparing and tracking all the cost estimates and budgets for major projects, from the conceptual estimates through the finalization of the guaranteed maximum price (GMP).  Mr. Hook and his team of architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical estimators also prepare value analysis studies and perform construction document reviews.

The Irvine and San Diego offices together have over 200 full-time employees, and are responsible for major biotechnology, health care, and educational projects in excess of $500 million this year.

After earning his B.B.A. in Business and Construction from the University of Oregon in Eugene, Hook subsequently studied Value Engineering and Analysis at the University of California, Berkeley.

Mr. Hook, whose particular area of interest and expertise is in conceptual estimating, has provided budgeting, estimating, and value analysis for a number of projects, including:  University of Southern California, Harlyne Norris Research Tower; University of Southern California, Zilkha Neurogenetic Institute; University of California, Engineering Building Unit 3B; California Institute of Technology, The Broad Center for the Biological Sciences; City of Hope, Center for Biomedicine and Genetics and Replacement Hospital; The Scripps Research Institute, Beckman Center for Chemical Sciences; Johnson & Johnson, Pharmaceutical Research & Development; Salk Institute, SAF; Kaiser, LAMC Sunset Hospital; Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, Surgery Center and Central Plant and The Saban Research Institute; AMGEN, Biotechnology Research Center; and Genentech, Process Science Center.
