Position: Project Engineer
Location: Redwood City, Roseville, Irvine and San Diego
Project Engineers at Rudolph and Sletten, Inc. begin their careers working in field offices of our various commercial, high-tech industrial, biotech and hospital/healthcare projects.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary function of Project Engineers is to assist the Project Manager and the Superintendent in organizing, controlling, monitoring and recording all activities, which are part of the construction management of a project.
Project Engineers at Rudolph and Sletten, Inc. must have initiative, flexibility, imagination and perseverance to perform their duties. Job site activities change daily as the construction of the project proceeds. Listed below are examples of typical duties:
- Liaison between the owner, architect, engineer and subcontractors
- Processing administrative work, including change orders, submittals, shop drawings and progress billings
- Interpretation of drawings, specifications and field issues
- Material and equipment procurement
CAREER TRAINING
The primary training for this position is on-the-job training. However, Rudolph and Sletten, Inc. provides on going in-house training workshops for job related topics. The following are examples of the workshops Project Engineers are required to attend: Cost Accounting and Billing Systems; Legal Aspects of Construction; Insurance; Effective Written Communications; Managing Mechanical Construction; Effective Meetings; Software Applications; Basic Electrical Systems; Roofing/Waterproofing Systems; Scheduling; Project Mobilization and Project Close-out.
SUMMARY
The work is fast-paced and requires the Project Engineer to be a problem solver and to provide workable solutions to keep the job moving. Being an integral part of the construction team provides Project Engineers with hands-on experience from the beginning of their careers with Rudolph and Sletten, Inc.
